Learning from Illness
There really is something quite depressing about being ill. I mean other than the obvious, you sick, your body aches, your throwing up, you can’t stray too far from the toilet… the list goes on.
What I mean more is about the loss of time. This site is fresh, it’s called the Spanish Cow and all I have the energy to think and write about right now is the fact that I am feeling pretty awful.
I think the thing that really puts the nail in the coffin though is the time loss. We have become a bit of a time starved people in the UK. You go to Spain and it is very different. Yes, some of that has to do with the weather, in fact I think that much of it has to do with the weather! You do have to look at the way we live and the kind of people that is breeding us into becoming. We are becoming like machines over here because we have such little time. I have spent my time being ill, thinking about all the time I am wasting, when I really should have just been relaxing and enjoying lying on the sofa watching the television.
I just think we need to relook at what we are doing with ourselves, and what makes us happy. A friend of mine is going to go and have cosmetic surgery. If it makes her happy to have a face lift or whatever it is she is going to have done, great. However, if you offset that against the year she has spent working to afford it… what better things could she have done with her time?
What better things could you have done with your time?
