The Difference

As a people we are all different–Just, as my mother used to say when I was a boy struggling with the impossibilities of numeracy, English, Politics, Engineering, Sport and Economics, some of us are more different than others: special, in fact. In time I grew to understand what she meant, and a brand-new world of possibilities opened up (most of them bad). At first (for the first eighteen years of my life) it was a problem which surfaced daily, but suddenly, one day (and with the advent of Geeks becoming cool), it became known as an ‘attribute’. I liked it more then.

It’s the same with companies. There are many generic ones which are the equivalent of the chisel-jawed, incredible-at-sports-and-get-all-the-girls boys, and a few which exist in a different plain of reality, daring to go in a direction never trodden: that is, the companies which are the equivalent of the mysterious, outsider boy at school, as featured in such popular films such as ‘Twilight’.
