Smoking Marijuana Linked to Increased Mental Illness

Despite how it has always appeared, recent research is showing an increasingly growing link between smoking marijuana and mental illness. This has been one of the most difficult hypotheses to prove because most of the smokers of marijuana don’t usually end up suffering from mental illnesses such as schizophrenia but researchers who have adopted new ways of carrying out the research are turning up medical data that should be worrying to all marijuana users.
While marijuana doesn’t actually cause the mental illnesses it is definitely showing signs of aggravating the diseases and causing them to turn up earlier and progress even faster when compared to individuals who have no history of using marijuana. Research carried out amongst mental patients suffering from various mental illnesses have shown that the mental illnesses turned up earlier in the lives of those who were users of marijuana. This applied even to those who were simply recreational users.
The most worrying thing about these results was that the case was worse when the marijuana user was of a younger age group. The effect has shown to be much reduced in adults but in children the onset of mental diseases is turning up even three years earlier than it would have if the child had not been a marijuana smoker. With the increasing number of underage marijuana smokers all over the world rising, these results are quite worrying with some kids starting out smoking at ages as young as twelve years. This should be the wakeup call for the many adult users of marijuana to not involve the younger generation lest they worsen their health conditions.
No matter if you are going on Antarctica cruises or not smoking pot is not good for your health in any way.
